SAME GAME

I'm not gonna play the same game
Don't wanna play any game at all
So tell me your number's the same
I won't wait three days to call.

I never much cared for complications.
I ain't entertained by dramatizations.
I'd rather our heart-to-heart conversations.
Like the way we once became.
But not if we're playin' the same game

I don't need to play the whole field
I don't wanna keep playin' around
Just think of the time that we've lost
And didn't even make it off the ground

I don't give a damn where the upper hand is
I just wanna know what the show you've got planned is
So if I come around where the ground you stand is
Can we lay aside the blame?
And we can put the rest to shame
But not if we're playing' the same game

Ooh
Enough with a the playin'
There's things that need a-sayin'
Foundation needs a-layin'
Ooh
It's time we started doin'
To see this thing a-through n'
To start again anew n'
Ooh-oh
A simple sweet emotion
The difference of devotion
I got just for you
Ooh
It's love and all the laughter
The Happy Everafter
That you always knew
[See, I want it too]

I'm not gonna play the same game
I'm aiming for "Always be true"
You think think you might want a new name?
I happen to have one for you

And I'll spend my days thinking' of ways I can adore you
And gettin' to know, watchin' you grow, I can assure you
If you'll be so kind, I wouldn't mind just to explore you
And you're welcome to do the same
But not if we're playing' the same game
Not if we're playing' the same game
Yeah not if we play this same game...

Digital Divide

I know exactly how we got here.
Begins so powerful and pure.
But passing time does no great favors.
Makes even strong hearts not-so-sure.

And girl your love has tasted sweetest
through all these brilliant, savored sips.
But I have never even heard my name
be spoken on your lips.

And if I put myself in your shoes
[and if you tried on my shoes, too]
You know, we'd probably say the same damn things
from different points of view.

See, there's two sides to every story,
and there are two that hold a pen.
But if we can't be clear what happens here
It just spells: "Heartache, once again."

Now it's the simplest communication
that will forever turn the key.
Takes no more modern innovation.
Just need you on the same page as me.

[I just wanna findout how happy we can be.]

So, I'll pack all my non-belongings
and let this conscience be my guide.
Head off in search of my life's meaning
across our Digital Divide.

(exactly how I feel)

If u knew the way I miss U,
u would never fall asleep.
And the way I long to [kiss] u,
so gentle and so deep.
And the way I want to hold u,
it's forever and for real.
I will never leave u lonely.
(And that's exactly how I feel.)

If u knew the way I'm sorry,
if I ever hurt your heart.
And how badly I need near u
(I cant stand when we're apart.)
And if im your one & only too,
then let's go and seal the deal.
Its a LIFE of love that's waiting.
That's exactly how I feel.

If you knew how much I love u,
U would never be without.
If u felt the way I feel u,
you would never have a doubt.
If for all your life you'll love me,
I'll get on one knee to kneel,
And I'll ask u one more question.
(That's exactly how I feel.)

FIRST KISS [1st Draft]

She leans in
He leans closer
Puts his hand upon her face
Eyes meet eyes
Shyly smiIes
Only ones left in the place

Licks her lips
Knows what's coming
Tilts her head off to one side
He nods yes
Words unspoken
ButterfIies twirl 'round inside

Makes his move
Distance closes
Faces touch and lips combined
From that spark
Fire blazes
Breathes together, intertwined

And he can't recall the last girl that he's kissed
When her thoughts are centered solely on his heart
Such a sweet sensation both so badly missed
From the moment that he'd showed
And the way this girl had glowed
Conversation it just flowed
And emotions did explode
Til' they finally found a way that it could start

She leans in
He leans closer
Brushes hair back from her eyes
Nerves now gone
Trust & knowing
Once a dream, now realized

Licks her lips
Likes his style
Soft and full of tenderness
In a flash
Every question
still remaining answered: Yes

Makes his move
Wants to taste her
One more time to know it's real
Waited long
Worth: forever
Greatest joy a boy can feel

And he can't recall the last girl that he's kissed
When her thoughts are centered solely on his heart
Such a sweet sensation both so badly missed
From the moment that he showed
And her beauty, how she glowed
Conversation it just flowed
And emotions did explode
When they finally found that place where they would start

He placed the first kiss on her lips,
and in her heart.

Peace For A Day

A meeting of minds met up in the mountains
To talk about things in the world as they were.
They were called from the corners of every great nation,
All were there for one reason, but none of them sure.

Then the guests were all seated and served a selection
Of good gourmet foods and the finest French wines.
'Til the dinner discussion developed to discourse
On the importance of dialogue and the reading of signs.

"What's the use" said the First "If I speak from the heart,
And there's nobody willing to listen?"
"Now you're talking," said Two as he laced up a shoe,
'"Unless there's obviously somethin' I'm missin'."

"What we're missing" said Three "When we see what we see,
Are the things that we'd like to believe to be true."
"Anymore," chimed in Four, "There's just heartache in store,
Thinking only of old ideas, never of new."

Upon which, they all agreed.

That's when Five took his turn at the table to talk
About things that were taxing and troubling him more.
Such as famine and drought, generations in doubt,
And diseases with death tolls far greater than war.

And as Six fought back tears, number Seven spoke softly,
Said "We've always got plenty for twenty times more."
"That sounds great!" shouted Eight, who was arriving there late,
As he stepped to the table, never closing a door.

"My idea," he declared as the others all stared
"Deals with something I've always been meaning to say...
We've had thousands of years with this bloodshed and tears.
Can't we all just have peace for a day?"

And then, the room fell silent.

There were quizzical looks as a couple heads shook.
There were several laughs, condescended.
"There are reasons for war," said a stern Number Four,

"I agree... But there are reasons to end it."

"If it's just for a day, then at least we can say
That we knew it, if ever so fleeting.
Then the truth will remain, and the answer so plain:
When we war, it's ourselves we're defeating."

"Do you think" stated Five "There's a human alive
Who does not include peace in their ultimate goals?"
"Well, I wish it were true" shouted Three before Two
Reassured him that most of the research reflects this in polls.

"Please forgive me" said Six, "But it seems you're suggesting
That we lay down our arms on a planet-wide scale?"
"That's correct" replied Eight, "Now we just need a date
And a plan from the people who can ensure it won't fail."

"That's a dangerous day if we lower our guard,"
Seven said, breathing deep to prevent him from yelling.
"That's the risk that we run" said an unafraid One,
"But regardless... I'm buying what he's selling."

"Just imagine the impact on every young child
Who's known only our violence since arriving at birth...
It shows peace is still possible, however improbable,
And that living in harmony once happened on Earth."

This time, all heads nodded in agreement.

So the leaders talked late about all the logistics,
A spectacular synergy of the world's superpowers.
They defined each detail and deployed the directive
That the planet would be peaceful for 24 hours.

Then they promised to stay in touch...

When the day came around it was well-publicized
In the media outlets all around the world.
Though the soldiers kept watch, all their guns were on "safety,"
And not one bullet was fired, nor a bomb had been hurled.

And from sunrise to sunset every man, woman, child,
Did discover a place they could never before find.
There was peace on the streets. There was peace in the air.
And the peace in their hearts gave them ALL peace of mind.

And when that day became next and the nightfall descended,
All God's children reflected, both mighty and meek.
Said: "That wasn't so bad!" and "I'm sorry it ended..."

"Maybe next we'll try peace for a week?"
